WHAT IS AND WHY USE BIOCRYPTIC BIOMETRICS?
Biometrics is the science of using physical characteristics to verify the identity of an individual. Unlike passwords and PINs, biometrics data cannot be forgotten by users or passed on or loaned to others. A biometrics system is simple to set up and cost effective to maintain. It is easy to add and remove authenticated users and there are no additional charges for doing so. As opposed to swipe card or key and lock systems, there is nothing to recall from outgoing employees or contractors. There is, therefore, nothing better for authentication than using a person's physical, biometrics data.

However, quite understandably, people worry as to whether or not their biometrics could be stolen, and if so, what are the consequences as a result. Biocryptic^® (a process patented by Genkey) biometrics solves this problem. As when a person's biometrics are registered using a Genkey Biocryptic^® solution, (unlike traditional biometrics registrations) no copies of that person's biometrics are stored as images at all. Instead, the Genkey Biocryptic^® converts (via a 96 dimensional algorithm) the registration of a person's biometrics (their face, finger, hand, iris or retina) into a Private Key (a string of numbers).

If no biometrics readers are installed at your entry points and you use tickets or swipe cards as your means of verifying people. Then the Private Keys that have been stored, can be used to generate Public Keys, which are printed as 1D Bar Codes on to tickets or swipe cards and, used (by swiping the card or ticket) as a person's means of verification.

If biometrics readers are installed at your entry points, then rather than 'swiping a card or ticket' as verification, the part of the body that was originally registered (i.e., face, finger, hand, iris or retina) to a biometrics reader, can be re-scanned at each entry point and matched to the stored Genkey Biocryptic^® Private Key.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY BIOCRYPTIC BIOMETRICS ARE LOST OR STOLEN?
Because a record of a person's biometrics is stored as a Public Key on a ticket or swipe card, if the Public Key should somehow, be lost or stolen, no biometrics information is compromised. The Public Key is simply revoked from the database it was stored in and a new ticket or swipe card is produced with a new Public Key printed on it.

If unauthorised access to the database that holds the Private and Public Keys is achieved. The biometrics information belonging to the people contained within the database would not have been compromised, as a Genkey Biocryptic^® database contains only Private and Public Keys, not images of peoples biometrics.
