Also referred to as "Telemarketing" or "Inbound Services" numbers, these types of numbers are described by our industry as "Non-Geographic" numbers. This description has been given to them because their prefix does not identify them as belonging to any particular geographic area. For example, 020 7xxx prefixed numbers are recognised as being inner London numbers, 0121 prefixed numbers as being Birmingham numbers etc., both of which, along with all the other 01xxx area code numbers would normally be referred to as "Geographic" numbers. In the simplest form, "Non-Geographic" numbers work in the following manner...............They activate a ring on a "Geographic" number. For example, you are in inner London and your telephone number is 020 7111 1111. We provide you with an 0800 "Non-Geographic" prefixed number. Your customers and suppliers dial it and it activates the ring onto 020 7111 1111. Using "Non-Geographic" prefixed numbers to manage your inbound services can bring both statistical and sales benefit to your firm, because we can report all the call activity relating to each of your "Non-Geographic" prefixed numbers to you in detail (click here to see a sample of one of our inbound services reports). There are several types of "Non-Geographic" numbers. We have broken them down into four categories. To find out more information relating to each of them, please click on the links below :- Non-Geographic - AREA CALL NUMBERS
Non-Geographic-AREA CALL NUMBERS These are "Geographic" prefixed "Non-Geographic" numbers. There are numerous prefix numbers available as "Non-Geographic-AREA CALL NUMBERS" (see our list below). Having an inner London 020 7xxx xxxx "Non-Geographic-AREA CALL" number can be of terrific benefit to a company who wish to market themselves as "appearing to have an inner London office" to their target marketing audience. Similarly, if a company chose to promote a Local or Regional presence within their marketing campaigns, publishing an 01273 prefixed "Non-Geographic-AREA-CALL NUMBER" within their advertisement would imply they had a Brighton based office. Integrating a "Non-Geographic-AREA-CALL NUMBER" with our PNCLI (Presentation Number Calling Line Identity) service will allow your Non-Geographic-AREA CALL NUMBER to display on the handsets of the people that you call.

LEEDS These are "Non-Geographic" Personal Numbers. They can be set up so that when they are dialled, they activate the ring onto either a Fixed Line Number, a Mobile Phone or any other Cellular Device, or onto a (UMG) Unified Messaging Gateway. UMG's invite callers to leave messages, convert the messages into an email or text and forward them on to the owner of the 070x prefixed number's device. Also, some Personal Numbers are managed by a "Follow Me" service, which allows the owner of the 070x prefixed number to set up a sequential ring hunt group, resulting in the callers call ringing one "Geographic" number, then another one, if the first one was not answered, and so on. Personal Numbers are ideal for people whose work forces them to be constantly on the move.
There are currently three types of 08xx "Non-Geographic" Numbers, 080x, 084x and 087x, (see below). All of them can be set up so that when they are dialled, they activate the ring onto a Fixed Line Number. Some 08xx prefixed numbers are managed by an "Intelligent Network" service, which allows the owner of the 08xx prefixed number to set up a response service based at the locations of their branch's "Geographic" numbers. For example, when a person in Manchester dials an 08xx prefixed number their call activates the ring at the owner of the 08xx prefixed number's Manchester branch. But if that caller were in Swindon when he dialled the 08xx prefixed number it would have activated the ring at the owner of the 08xx prefixed number's Swindon branch. The level of intelligence we can manage calls to 08xx prefixed numbers is quite impressive. We can provide your firm with a single 08xx prefixed number that can be dialled from anywhere in the world and configured to activate a ring anywhere in the world. Meaning you can market the same 08xx prefixed number in every country and have an office full of multilingual employees in one single office, each one responding in the native language corresponding to the origination of the call. Alternatively, if say for example you have thirty five branches that are all located in the 0121 (Birmingham) exchange area, we can provide a routing plan that recognises which one of your branches a caller is closest to within the 0121 exchange area and route their call accordingly.
- 080x Numbers (Freephone). FREE* for the caller, the owner of the 080x prefixed number pays to receive the call. - 084x Numbers (Local Call Rate). Excluding 0844 prefixed numbers, which have been assigned as FRIACO internet dial-up connection numbers. 084x prefixed numbers usually* cost the caller the price they are normally charged for making a non-discounted Local call. Other than FRIACO numbers (when the owner earns an income while they receive the call) the owner of an 084x prefixed number pays to receive the call. - 087x Numbers (National Call Rate). These usually* cost the caller the price they are normally charged for making a non-discounted National call. The owner earns an income when they receive the call.
These are "Non-Geographic" Premium Rate Numbers, which are used for a wide range of services, for example, weather information, technical support, competition entries, chat and dating services, horoscopes - the list is exhaustive. 090x prefixed "Non-Geographic" Premium Rate Numbers which cost more than £1.00 per minute and which may cost more than £20.00 in total, require "ICSTIS" (the Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services) prior permission before operating. All live services and all consumer credit services also require permission before operating, regardless of cost. All UK-based premium rate services must be advertised on 090x dialling codes. 'Adult (sexually explicit) services must only be advertised on the 0909 dialling code. The fourth number of the 090 dialling codes indicates the potential type or cost of the service. The codes 0902, 0903, 0904 and 0908 have not been allocated at present and will be reserved for increased demand or new services. The 090x prefixed numbers currently being used and the suggested* call rates charged to dial them are as follows :- - 0900 and 0901. Call cost up to 60 pence per minute with a maximum call cost of £5.00; or fixed cost up to £1.00 per call. - 0905. Open ended at any cost per minute; or fixed cost per call at any rate. - 09059. Live Multi-Party Chat services costing up to 60 pence per minute. - 0906. Open ended at any cost per minute; or fixed cost per call at any rate. - 0907. Pay-for-product services costing more than £1.00. - 0909. Adult services, at any rate.
*The rate you are charged for calling a "Non-Geographic" prefixed number should be as per those recommended by OFCOM (Office of Communications) and can be found within BT's published tariff tables. Unfortunately however, there are currently no OFCOM conditions that force "other providers" to charge their customers these tariff tables' rates. As a result, many "other providers" charge their end user customers inflated pence per minute rates and/or connection charges.
NB. It is possible to selectively restrict or (if you so choose) eliminate all call activity to "Non-Geographic" prefixed numbers from your office by subscribing to our " Call Barring" service.
