ISDN2e can be
presented in either of the following formats :-
ISDN2e SYSTEM - For carrying
voice calls.
ISDN2e STANDARD - For carrying voice or data calls (often
used for connecting to the Internet).
ISDN2e SYSTEM circuits are presented via a BT "NTE" diagnostic box onto your Telephone
System. Each circuit contains two channels (often referred to as lines). You
can have as many circuits connected to your Telephone System as you need.
ISDN2e SYSTEM circuits support DDI "Direct Dialling
In" and many Select Services. Most of which, although only if you so choose,
can be integrated via your telephone system into your computers' operating
system to create a CTI "Computer, Telephony Integration" service for your
company.
Herewith a listing of the ISDN2e SYSTEM Select
Services that are currently available.
DDI - Direct Dialling In
DDI numbers allow you to increase the amount of telephone numbers you have
available for people to call you. DDI numbers are provided either as single numbers (SNDDI's)
or in blocks of ten. To give an example. Your
main (switchboard) telephone number would be 020 900 9000 and your 10 number
DDI range would be telephone numbers 020 900 9001 to 020 900 9010. Using DDI
allows you to allocate individual extensions their own inbound telephone
numbers, so people can ring your employees directly, without going via your
switchboard.
In the event that a DDI number that has been dialled
is either engaged or not answered, the DDI can be set up to automatically
route the call to the switchboard or to another extension. Alternatively, by
utilising an ISDN Select Service, such as CCCF "Customer Controlled Call
Forwarding" the unanswered call can be forwarded to another phone number,
without the caller experiencing any delay.
PNCLI - Presentation Number Calling Line Identity
Presentation Number (PN) allows you to specify a telephone number for your
Calling Line Identity (CLI) for outgoing calls, which may be different to
your usual telephone number. For example, your company's branches could
present your call centre's 0800 number to direct return calls to the call
centre, rather
than back to the branches, thus resulting in improved customer handling. PN is
often used in conjunction with our "Non-Geographic-AREA
CALL NUMBER" service.
CLIP - Calling line Identity Presentation
Shows the telephone number of the person calling you.
CLIR - Calling Line Identity Restriction
Prevents others from seeing your telephone number when you call them.
CCCF - Customer Controlled Call Forwarding
Enables you to transparently forward incoming calls to another telephone
number, in the event that you are not available.
Call Waiting & Call Hold
Call Waiting allows you to have up to 4 voice or data calls waiting at any
one time. Any one of the waiting calls can be selected for connection at any
time. The Call Hold part of the service allows you to switch between
individually held calls without losing them. The calls can be incoming or
outgoing.
Call Deflection
Allows you to deflect calls of certain types, from certain numbers or calls
to specific numbers or DDI extensions. A deflected call can be directed to any phone
number that accepts incoming calls (such as a mobile phone or an ordinary
exchange line).
Sub-Addressing
Send up to 20 Alpha numeric characters (except #) with the digits of the
telephone number you are dialling. Sub-addressing is available for use on
calls between ISDN 2e and any other European versions of ISDN (e.g..
Business Highway; ISDN 30e). Sub-addressing is often used to allow
connection to a specific piece of equipment (e.g.. a fax machine or
telephone) or a particular application on a computer.
Call Forwarding: Unconditional
A one-off request to BT to forward all your incoming calls to a designated
number.
Call Forwarding: On Busy
A one-off request to BT to forward all your incoming calls to a designated
number when your line is engaged.
Call Forwarding: On No Reply
A one-off request to BT to forward all your incoming calls to a designated
number when your line is unanswered.
ISDN2e STANDARD
- For carrying voice or data calls (often used for connecting to the
Internet).
When provided exclusively for data purposes. The
ISDN2e STANDARD circuits are presented onto an BT "NTE" diagnostic box with
RJ45 connecting sockets. The two ISDN2e channels can be "dual bonded" together to transmit all kinds of information at a transfer rate of up to
128 Kbps, with no overhead bits lost and negligible bit loss, or data frame
repetition because of the digital lines' high immunity to line noise.
When provided for carrying voice calls. The ISDN2e
STANDARD circuits are presented via a BT "NTE" diagnostic box onto your
Telephone System. Each circuit contains two channels (often referred to as
lines). ISDN2e STANDARD
is typically provided where there is one,
stand-alone, ISDN2e line. Additional telephone numbers can be assigned to
your ISDN2e STANDARD line using MSN "Multiple Subscriber Numbering"
MSN
- Multiple Subscriber Numbering
MSN lets you have up to 10 directory numbers associated with your ISDN2e
STANDARD line, enabling you to be able to assign different numbers for fax,
telephone, data and video services. The call information that is sent down
the ISDN2e STANDARD line and any extension wiring will be the last 6 digits
of the called number only.
